Cartridge Care Tips

To install your cartridge remove clip or cap from base of ink cartridge (if applicable).

Insert cartridge into printer; ensure cartridge firmly locks into place.

Press OK, yes, close, etc. to bypass any nuisance messages that appear.
NOTE: Members may experience “alerts” when using refilled cartridges. These nuisance messages are simply deterrents created by manufacturers and should be bypassed by pressing “OK”, “proceed”, “continue”, “accept”, etc. Stop the process if an “Unrecognized Cartridge”, “Cartridge Error”, “Incompatible Cartridge” or “Replace Cartridge” message appears (return the cartridge to the Costco Photo Center for evaluation). See table below.

HP 02 / 88 YES. If "Cartridge Error" or "Unrecognized" alert is present then return to Costco for chip replacement. For HP 02 error "Missing or Damaged" or "Expired Ink" alerts, return to Costco and request chip replacement. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
HP 15, 17, 21-23, 27, 28, 41, 45, 54, 56-58, 60, 61, 62, 74, 75, 78, 92-99, 901 NO. Ink levels will be greyed out - this is NORMAL. Print until quality fades. "Cartridge Error" or "Incompatible" error messages likely due to an electrically damaged cartridge. Return to Costco for refund and replace with a new cartridge.
HP 564, 920, 940 NO. Ink levels will be greyed out - this is NORMAL. Print until quality fades. Activate internal test print to check colour availability. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean. For 564/920 quality issues, leave cartridges in printer for 48 hours to allow ink to fully absorb into foam, then retest.
HP 932, 933, 950, 951 YES, except for an initial "Non HP Cartridge Installed" message. For "Missing or Damaged" or "Ink Empty" message, return to Costco and request weight check and/or chip replacement. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
Canon 3, 5, 8, 220, 221, 225, 226 YES. If "Cartridge Error" or "Not Recognized" alert is present then return to Costco for chip reprogramming. For "Ink Out" message, return to Costco and request weight check. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
Canon 30, 31, 40, 41, 50, 51, 210, 211, 240, 241, 245, 246, 250, 251 NO. Ink levels will be greyed out - this is NORMAL. A printer reset will be required - press and hold "Stop" or "Stop/Resume" button for 10 seconds. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean.
Epson 68, 69, 77-79, 88, 97-99, 124-127, 200 YES. If "Cartridge Error" or "Relace Cartridge" alert is present then return to Costco for chip reprogramming. For streaking or no ink on paper, perform Nozzle/Printhead clean. NOTE: Do not remove the small black plug which was installed into cartridges top during refilling.
